A Tale of two cities, by Charles Dickens is a love story, the best of all times I must say, for my eyes, at the end of the story, took the liberty of shedding tears.
A Tale of two cities, by Charles Dickens is a love story, the best of all times I must say, for my eyes, at the end of the story, took the liberty of shedding tears.
(Eyes do not lie, except those of the outrageous evil, and
are, perhaps, the only means to learn the truth.)
The protagonist, Sydney Carton reminds me of the character
Severus Snape of the celebrated Harry Potter series. The author underlines the promise Mr Carton makes to
sacrifice himself, if required, in the name of the woman he loves - Misses Lucy
Manette Darney, who in turn, is married to another gentleman Charles Darney. And indeed, the promise is made, when in need. The story is all about the promise, which, at the end, is justified. I
do not wish to recite the entire story in this writing but I must declare that it is
one of the finest writings ever. The story, furthermore, gives us the memories
of French Revolution – the time of the history when the aristocrats were slain
by the citizens of France.
The congruency in the facial morphology of Mr Darney and Mr
Carton carries a profound meaning, which I do not wish to disclose but, allow me to assure you, it shall be abundantly clear to those who read the book until
the end.
Also, for careful
readers, the story must be predictable before the mid chapters.
